Create a Scrappy Creature using wire hangers, plastic bags, cloth, and lots of ephemera. It is derived from the book One Plastic Bag, which is a powerful showcase of the impact one person's idea can have toward positive change. Start off with a mystery idea and leave with a Scrappy Creature.

Disability Aesthetics: Challenging Ideas of "Excellence" in Anti-Ableist Arts Learning Spaces

Drawing on Disability Art and the disability aesthetics framework, this session will invite participants to unpack and reimagine what "excellence" means in art education. We will center disability in reflections on art and teaching, challenge dominant ideals of beauty, and cultivate practices for anti-ableist art teaching.
