Immerse yourself in Louisville culture at this special Preconvention workshop and walk away in style! Join Jenny Pfanenstiel, seven-time OFFICIAL MILLINER OF THE KENTUCKY DERBY MUSEUM to create your own Kentucky Derby–style fascinator.

Learn hands-on from Jenny and her team as they share how to manipulate different embellishing materials, including feathers, flowers, ribbons, and other trims to design your own fascinator. Each attendee will be provided with a fascinator base that is ready for your creation.

Design your hat on Wednesday and wear it to Thursday’s pARTy! This workshop includes a ticket ($20 value) to the NAEA25 Opening Night pARTy, where the theme will be “Disco Derby.”

To kick off the ceremony, we are excited to welcome Jamaal Durr, known professionally as JQ, a multifaceted visual artist based in Louisville. JQ, whose work spans from detailed portraits to pop-culture illustrations, will open the awards with an inspiring address. His art, rooted in expressions of the human figure, challenges audiences to think critically and embrace their creative gifts. Through his journey, he encourages the next generation of artists to follow their dreams and make their mark on the world.
