About me
Andy Meadows is a native of Montgomery Alabama where he received his undergraduate degree at Huntingdon College and then his Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) from the University of Alabama. He taught visual arts and created the Fine Art Photography program at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School. He also taught fine art photography at Mountain Brook High School for five years before coming to the Alabama State Department of Education. Currently, he is the Arts Education Specialist in the Instructional Services Section under the Office of Teaching and Learning at the Alabama State Department of Education. This position includes the responsibility for coordinating and implementing fine art arts education programs and curriculum in dance, media arts, music, theatre and visual arts as well as other assigned staff duties and responsibilities. He also manages the Alabama Arts Education Initiative Grants which if funded through the legislature ($1.5 million annually). Andy serves on the Board of Directors of the Alabama Institute for Education in the Arts and the Board of Trustees for Alabama School of Fine Arts. He is also a member of the national State Education Agency Directors of Arts Education (SEADAE) and the National Arts Education Association. He also serves as an Ex Officio board member for the Alabama Arts Alliance, Alabama Arts Educators Association, Alabama Music Educators Association, Alabama Dance Educators Association K12, and the Alabama Educational Theatre Association. Andy has exhibited his work in national and international shows and his work has been collected by museums and private collectors.
