About me
Ariel Kay received her B.S. in Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College with a Minor in Education. She received a M.A. in Art Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She taught elementary art for eight years, six of those years at a Title 1 school in East Austin.
Kay is currently an Assistant Professor of Practice in Art Education at the School of Art & Design at Texas State University.
Research Interests: Anthropology of Education, school ethnography, student-centered art education curriculum, culturally proficient pedagogy, social and emotional learning
