About me
Laura Mitchell is the Arts Education Specialist for Buncombe County Schools and an A+ Schools Fellow through the North Carolina Arts Council. Laura taught middle school visual art for 15 years and holds her Masters in Art Education. She has a passion for global education and leads the county in the Kennedy Center Partners in Education Arts Integration Cohort with LEAF Global Arts. Laura is a National Art Education Association School for Art Leaders alum and active member of NAEA, NCAEA, and Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Honorary Organization for Women Educators. She is a National Board Certified Teacher, 2015 North Buncombe District Teacher of the Year, 2017 NCAEA Middle Level Art Educator of the Year, and 2022 National Art Education Association Southeastern Supervision/Administration Art Educator of the Year. Laura is an avid runner, artist, and outdoor enthusiast.
